imperium
Major forge world, capital of the Gryphonne Octad
One of the mightiest forge worlds of the Adeptus Mechanicus, founded in the Dark Age of Technology and the heart of the Gryphonne Octad, a small empire of eight mineral-rich systems. Home of the Legio Gryphonicus and of fearsomely disciplined Skitarii legions, with defences that rivalled those of Mars itself. Hive Fleet Leviathan fell on it in 998.M41, and its forge-synod fled with what knowledge and machinery the evacuation fleets could carry.

Dead world, devoured by Hive Fleet Leviathan
Gryphonne IV is dead: consumed by Hive Fleet Leviathan, its forge-cities and its twin fortress-moons stripped of life. The surviving magi drift in a diaspora fleet, robbed of purpose, and Explorator Talin Sherax sets out to find something that could restore it.
Position
Map frame: 470, 875 in the archive's 0–1000 disk space (core at 500, 500).

Height above the disk plane: 5.4 units — invented thin-disk jitter, deterministic per record. No published source gives any location a z coordinate.

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gryphonne_IV (read directly in a browser on 2026-10-01): 'a major Forge World of the Imperium and the fourth planet of the Gryphonne System', 'turned into a Dead World by Hive Fleet Leviathan', citing Imperial Armour Volume One, Codex: Tyranids (5th and 6th Editions) and Dominion Genesis (Novel) chapter by chapter. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/07/24/upcoming-for-black-library-broken-heroes-destroyed-forge-worlds-and-possessed-space-marines/ (the reveal, 24 Jul 2024), https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/PDLEBXUe/sunday-preview-the-children-of-the-great-horned-rat/ (Sunday Preview, 1 Sep 2024) and https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/8p10wRsD/saturday-pre-orders-the-skaventide-thickens/ (Saturday pre-orders, 7 Sep 2024), all read directly 2026-10-01: 'the forge world of Gryphonne IV is dead. Consumed by the relentless Hive Fleet Leviathan'. NAME-COLLISION CHECK: no other index record uses the name, and https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gryphonne has no article (read 2026-10-01).
segmentumhigh
wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gryphonne_IV infobox 'Segmentum: Segmentum Tempestus', citing Imperial Armour Volume One pg. 8; https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Segmentum_Tempestus lists Gryphonne IV among its notable planets (both read 2026-10-01). Codex: Tyranids (5th Edition), via the same page, gives it 'the finest defences of any world in the galactic south'.
classmedium
'forge' as the living baseline: a forge world of forge-cities such as Sevarista and Simurghal, whose archives and metallurgy were famed (Lexicanum Gryphonne_IV, citing the novel's Gryphonne IV chapters 3-4). Lexicanum's infobox reads 'Dead World, former Forge World': that is the present-tense state after Leviathan, so it is carried by the indomitus era's status ('Dead world'), which the renderer's status table turns grey, not by the baseline (SCHEMA.md, eras[era].class).
gposlow
inferred: Segmentum Tempestus is published (Imperial Armour Volume One, via Lexicanum) and 'the galactic south' (Codex: Tyranids 5th Edition, via Lexicanum), but no sector, subsector or bearing. Placed in the southern interior of the stylised Tempestus polygon at [470, 875], south of Bakka, which is region-level only. Z from compute-z.mjs under zPolicy.
erasmedium
m41: the forge world and its fall, the Tyranid assault beginning 998.M41 (Lexicanum Gryphonne_IV, citing Codex: Tyranids 6th Edition pg. 32); Legio Gryphonicus, Skitarii and defences from the same page (Imperial Armour Volume One; Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus 8th Edition). indomitus: dead, the state the novel opens on six Terran years after the fall (Lexicanum Talin_Sherax, Tolkhan; the Warhammer Community posts above). Allegiance 'none' for a world with no one left on it. The Dioscuri twin fortress-moons (Lexicanum Gryphonne_IV, ch. 3) are bodies in systems/gryphonne.json.
systemIdhigh
'gryphonne': Lexicanum's infobox names the Gryphonne System and calls the world its fourth planet (citing the novel, Gryphonne IV ch. 2). systems/gryphonne.json carries it.
