Huron Blackheart and the three hundred Astral Claws who came out of the Badab War with him took this world off the mutants holding it and made it their capital. Its southern pole carries a second Palace of Thorns, named for the fortress-monastery they lost, ringed by a battery of guns; the rest of the world is a labyrinth of ramparts, cities and forges worked by billions of slaves, with hundreds of stolen ships at anchor over it.

The centre of the largest pirate empire in the eastern Imperium, and the heart of the Tyrant's Crown, the twenty-three systems Blackheart holds outright inside a Maelstrom that is now joined to the Great Rift. Orbital dockyards and defence platforms can break an invader half a system out, xenos warbands come to bargain, and once a generation the Skull Harvest brings every ambitious warlord in the storm here to fight for the right to follow him.

Painted `fortress` — armoured grey-steel rock ridged so the ridges read as fortification. The infobox tag is 'Renegade Space Marine Homeworld', which is not a render class at all, so nothing was copied from it. `hive` was the real alternative and was refused: the hive palette paints a smog-lit civilian sprawl with heavy night-side sodium light, and every descriptive word canon gives this world is military — fortifications first, no climate, no biosphere, no natural terrain of any kind. This is not a world that has a fortress on it, which is the mistake Macragge was filed under; it is fortification all the way down.

This dataset already carries the Maelstrom as a published region feature (regions.json, 'located in Ultima Segmentum between the border with Segmentum Solar and the centre of the galaxy', centred [568, 552] with a 20-unit radius), so New Badab is placed 4.5 units from that centre — inside the storm it is canonically inside. No published bearing within the storm exists, and the z is the documented zPolicy value for this id.

No hh or aoi key is carried: canon records nothing about this world before Huron took it in the twelfth century of M41, so it is absent from those two eras rather than shown as a Chaos fortress in millennia it was not one.

The dossier shows IMPERIUM SANCTUS here, derived from greatRift.spline as it is for every record that does not override — the spline puts [566, 556] south of its Ultima arc. That derivation is left alone rather than overridden, because canon has the Maelstrom JOIN the Great Rift during the Thirteenth Black Crusade rather than lie to one side of it (), and regions.json keeps that junction out of the spline precisely so the side test stays computable. An authored `sanctus` would therefore state something stronger than the source supports, and an authored `nihilus` would contradict the geometry; 171 of the index's records carry no riftSide for the same reason, and the 30 that do are overrides.
