The 41st Millenniumpre-Rift
contested
Imperial industrial world invaded by the Orks of Waaagh! Gratzdakka, 397.M41
Capital of the Kalidar System and Subsector in the Chiros Sector: a world whose oceans dried up millennia ago, now red-grey desert under green skies and a flaring blue-white star, with wild temperature swings, high radiation, razor sand, swiftdust that swallows tanks and a magnetosphere that makes vox all but useless. Its hives are sunk into mineshafts, built around the walls of the shafts rather than stacked above ground, and its industry is the mining of lorelei, a psychically active crystal worked by blind, rebreather-fitted miner gangs. In Baneblade the Blood Axe Waaagh! of Arch-Skarlord Gratzdakka holds Hive Meradon, and an Imperial battlegroup of Black Templars and Paragonian, Atraxian and Savlar regiments, the super-heavies of the 7th Paragonian among them, is sent to take the world back. How the war ends is in the book's spoiler.

Position
Map frame: 332, 806 in the archive's 0–1000 disk space (core at 500, 500).
Distance from the core: 349 units ≈ 37.1k light years, south-west of the galactic core.
Height above the disk plane: -6.2 units — invented thin-disk jitter, deterministic per record. No published source gives any location a z coordinate.

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Kalidar_IV (read directly in a browser on 2026-10-02), every line cited to Baneblade (Novel): 'Kalidar IV (also known simply as Kalidar) is an Industrial World of the Imperium. It is the designated Capital World of the Kalidar System, and of the Kalidar Subsector as a whole' (Interstitial after the Prologue, pgs. 17-18); invaded by Waaagh! Gratzdakka. Corroborated by https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Kalidar_War, Marken_Cortein_Lo_Bannick and Mars_Triumphant (the 7th Paragonian deployed on Kalidar IV), and by Black Library's description as quoted in Warhammer Community's Sunday Preview of 15 Sep 2024 ('a bitter war against the orks in the Kalidar system'). NAME-COLLISION CHECK: no other index record uses 'Kalidar'; the only other Kalidar page on Lexicanum is the star of the same system.

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Kalidar_IV: 'Kalidar IV used to possess oceans, but these all dried up many millennia before M41. Now the planet is largely covered in treacherous red-grey desert' (chs 2, 7); 'The skies of Kalidar IV are green' (ch. 7); its hives are subterranean, 'The only structures above ground are industrial complexes'; 'Geography: Grade CLXXVI desert world'. Painted `desert` from those terrain words. The infobox also tags it Hive World, Death World and Industrial World: `hive` was refused because the hives are underground and leave the surface desert, `death` because this dataset's death palette is green jungle, and `forge` because the industry is mining under a desert surface.
segmentumhigh
wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Kalidar_IV infobox: Segmentum 'Segmentum Tempestus', Sector 'Chiros Sector', Subsector 'Kalidar Subsector', System 'Kalidar System' (Interstitial after the Prologue, pgs. 17-18); https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Chiros_Sector 'a Sector of the Imperium located in Segmentum Tempestus'.
gposlow
inferred: segmentum-level. Canon places the world in the Kalidar Subsector of the Chiros Sector of Segmentum Tempestus and publishes no sector position, bearing or neighbour (Lexicanum Kalidar_IV, Chiros_Sector, Kalidar_Subsector; Chiros_Sector's only other systems are Agritha, from the short story Iron Harvest, and Gerat with Geratomro, from Shadowsword, neither placed). Placed at [332, 806], well inside the stylised 'tempestus' polygon (111 units from its edge, checked) and 90 units from the nearest marker (Tatricala), so it implies no neighbour. The coordinate claims nothing finer than 'somewhere in Segmentum Tempestus'. Shadowsword's Geratomro (same sector, Agritha Subsector) now sits 5.7 units away at [336, 802], keyed to this point (2026-10-02). UPGRADE CANDIDATE: a published Chiros Sector position would replace it. Z -6.2 is the zPolicy value (compute-z.mjs kalidar-iv 332 806).
erashigh
m41 only: Lexicanum Kalidar_War dates the war 'Around 397.M41' (Interstitial after the Prologue; ch. 1), and Marken_Cortein_Lo_Bannick says 'By 397.M41 he had been with the Astra Militarum for 30 years'. Nothing is published about the world in another era. Allegiance 'contested': an Imperial world with an Ork Waaagh! holding at least Hive Meradon (Lexicanum Hive_Meradon, ch. 7) for the whole of the book; the outcome is kept out of the era summary because it is the book's ending (ch. 29).

systems/kalidar.json: authored because Kalidar IV is Baneblade's PRIMARY setting and canon enumerates the system (Lexicanum Kalidar_System 'Known Celestial Objects', from the novel's own system dossier, pgs. 17-18), with Kalidar IV on the synthesiser's seed (hashId('kalidar-iv') % 97 = 60).
