Ecclesiarchy Cardinal World of temples and reliquaries; battlefield of the Promethean War in 980.M41
An old world, founded during the Great Crusade and reclaimed by the Ecclesiarchy after centuries of industrial exploitation by a series of tyrants, who raised vast temples, unearthed lost tombs and interred new relics. It is a Cardinal World: an industrial centre at Solist, a vast population centre at Canticus whose labyrinthine streets are crowded with colonnaded temples and minor shrine-holds above catacombs packed with the dead, the eighteen pillars of the Cairns over the holy road from the eastern desert of Veloth, and the four-kilometre Salvation Bridge. In 980.M41 the Black Legion comes in the name of Chaos, and the Salamanders, Cadian regiments and the Sisters of the Order of the Ebon Chalice fight the Promethean War across it.

Position
Map frame: 810, 310 in the archive's 0–1000 disk space (core at 500, 500).
Distance from the core: 364 units ≈ 38.7k light years, north-east of the galactic core.
Height above the disk plane: 4.1 units — invented thin-disk jitter, deterministic per record. No published source gives any location a z coordinate.
System: Heletine System

web.archive.org/web/20141009230015/http://www.blacklibrary.com:80/all-products/rebirth-ebook.html Black Library's own product pages for Rebirth (Wayback captures, read 2026-10-05: ebook , audiobook https://web.archive.org/web/20141004103955/http://www.blacklibrary.com:80/all-products/rebirth-unabridged-audiobook-mp3.html): 'On Heletine, the Black Legion has come in the name of Chaos and only Brother-Captain Drakgaard's warriors stand in the way of their dark glory.' Lexicanum https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Heletine (read directly in a browser, 2026-10-05), citing Rebirth (Novel) chs. 1, 8, 20, 22, 26, 35, 38; Lexicanum Planets_(List): 'In 980.M41, Heletine was embroiled in the Promethean War', Rebirth (Novel), chs. 1, 8, 20, 22, 26, 35, 38. NAME-COLLISION CHECK: no index record uses the id or label; Lexicanum has one Heletine article.
typehigh
'planet': 'A Cardinal World, Heletine features large population centres and industrial sectors' (Lexicanum Heletine).
classmedium
'shrine', chosen from the page's description words, NOT copied from its 'Cardinal World' infobox tag: 'Its surface is dotted with significant religious structures or temples whilst even in the vast population centre of Canticus, the labyrinthine streets are crowded with colonnaded temples and minor shrine-holds'; the Ecclesiarchy 'raising vast temples, unearthing lost tombs, interring new relics and forming reliquaries' (Lexicanum Heletine, Rebirth chs. 1 and 22). The shrine palette (pale stone and votive gold) is the dataset's picture of a world built over with temples. 'hive' was refused because Canticus is a temple city, not a hive, and 'desert' because Veloth is one barren region in the east, not the world. Its industry at Solist and Escadan is real but secondary.
segmentummedium
'Ultima Segmentum' (Lexicanum Heletine infobox, footnote 3: Codex: Chaos Space Marines (8th Edition), pg. 20). No sector, subsector or system is given.
gposlow
inferred: segmentum-level only. Canon places Heletine in the Ultima Segmentum and publishes no sector, subsector, system, bearing or neighbour (Lexicanum Heletine). Placed at [810, 310], the point on a 5-unit grid inside the stylised 'ultima' polygon farthest from both the polygon edge and every existing marker (97.0 units from the edge, 76.7 from the nearest marker, Croatoas), with the galactic-core band (under 150 units from the core) and the three warp-storm features excluded, because the unconstrained search fell 50 units from the core, where this index holds no world and a marker would read as a core world. The coordinate claims nothing finer than 'somewhere in the Ultima Segmentum'. Z 4.1 is the zPolicy value (compute-z.mjs heletine 810 310). UPGRADE CANDIDATE: a sector or system would move this.
systemIdlow
'heletine', named for the world because no system is published. no-system-survey: canon enumerates nothing about the system (Lexicanum's infobox leaves Sector and System blank; no star, other body or body count on any page read), so no systems/heletine.json is authored; an invented one-star-one-planet file would claim more than the sources do.
erasmedium
m41 only: the Promethean War is dated 980.M41 by Lexicanum Heletine, Planets_(List), Promethean_War and the Salamanders chapter timeline. Allegiance 'contested': the Black Legion hold Canticus as their main stronghold during the war (Lexicanum Heletine, ch. 35), and how the war ends is not on any page read. The Codex: Sisters of Battle (5th Edition) account of the war (Lexicanum Promethean_War) is a different telling and is not used for the novel's events.
