Record by era

This archive tracks four layers. A record present in 2 of them (M41, IND) is silent in the rest, and says so.

imperium
Penal world; home of the Savlar Chem-Dogs

Once a mining world notable only for the rich chemical deposits on its moons, Savlar failed its tithes and was made a penal colony in M39: one huge prison of megacells, gaols and prison sinks under a noxious, volatile atmosphere, its surface covered in toxic wastes, ruled in practice by gang-bosses and supplying raw material to neighbouring civilised and forge worlds. An armed uprising led Judge Callistar to raise the convicts as the Savlar Chem-Dogs, and six regiments of them went to the Third War for Armageddon, where their rebreathers and their greed for loot suited the underhives.

imperium
Penal world; struck by a Chaos Balefleet

Still the Imperium's prison world and the recruiting ground of the Chem-Dogs, whose regiments fight on in the wars of M42. During the Arks of Omen campaign a Chaos Balefleet attacked Savlar and wreaked havoc on the planet. In Chem Dog it is the convicts' home, remembered and talked about rather than visited.

Contested record

Position: the Third War for Armageddon campaign website (via Lexicanum Savlar and Savlar_System) puts the Savlar system 'just over a hundred light years from Armageddon', while Codex: Imperial Guard 5th Edition's galaxy map (via Lexicanum Savlar, Conflicting sources) places Savlar 'in the border regions between Segmentum Pacificus and Segmentum Solar, nowhere near Armageddon'. This record follows the textual statement, which yields an actual position, and says so rather than silently picking one.

Position

Map frame: 329.02, 469.83 in the archive's 0–1000 disk space (core at 500, 500).
Distance from the core: 174 units ≈ 18.5k light years, west of the galactic core.
Height above the disk plane: 6.8 units — invented thin-disk jitter, deterministic per record. No published source gives any location a z coordinate.
System: Savlar System
