imperium
Imperial shrine world, a Genestealer Cult beneath its festival
A gleaming Shrine World of saints and soldiers, beloved of the Emperor, on the closest outskirts of Segmentum Solar: a ringed world of shrines and light whose capital keeps the skull of Saint Veres, the martyr who cast down a traitor ecclesiarch in the Age of Apostasy, and brings it out for a festival held every 800 years. When Sister Superior Augusta Santorus of the Order of the Bloody Rose comes to take the skull into safekeeping, political danger bubbles under the surface, rebels harry the impoverished outskirts of its hives, and a Genestealer Cult has its claws under the planet's skin, the herald of a Hive Fleet.

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/The_Rose_in_Darkness_(Novel 'shrine' because of what the sources say it LOOKS like, not a tag: 'a gleaming Shrine World of saints and soldiers' (Black Library description on )); 'Opal, a world of shrines and light' (https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/DZem1oqa/battle-sisters-stalk-xenos-in-this-exclusive-excerpt-from-the-new-danie-ware-novel-the-rose-in-darkness/). Lexicanum's Augusta Santorus page (https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Augusta_Santorus, citing chapters 8-9) also gives it 'primary Hives' with impoverished outskirts, but the publisher's own words for its look are shrines and light, so the shrine palette rather than hive.
wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Augusta_Santorus Only 'indomitus' is carried, the era of the shelf's Augusta Santorus run (The Rose at War is filed post-Rift). No permitted source dates the novel; Lexicanum's places Opal after Lautis, Lycheate and Letum in Augusta's career without a year. Skull of Saint Veres, Age of Apostasy and the 800-year festival from https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/DZem1oqa/battle-sisters-stalk-xenos-in-this-exclusive-excerpt-from-the-new-danie-ware-novel-the-rose-in-darkness/ and https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Augusta_Santorus (ch. 3). What befalls the world is in the book's spoiler entry and is kept off this record.
