imperium
Imperial world; Adeptus Astartes homeworld of the Angels Resplendent, later the Angels Penitent
The Painted World, homeworld of the Angels Resplendent, a Blood Angels successor Chapter of warrior-artisans whose fortress-monastery Kanvolis borders the Reverie, a snow-choked forest bound by perpetual winter that the Chapter's aspirants must cross. It lies in the remote Chiaroscuro System on the eastern fringes of the Imperium. In M41 the Chapter falls and becomes the Angels Penitent.

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Malpertuis (read 2026-10-12 with fetch-page.mjs): 'Malpertuis, the Painted World, is the Homeworld of the Angels Penitent Chapter'; infobox System 'Chiaroscuro System' (citing The Reverie (Novel), Chapter One), Affiliation 'Imperium (Angels Penitent)', Class 'Adeptus Astartes Homeworld', Tithe Grade 'Adeptus Non'. A planet. NAME-COLLISION CHECK: no hatnote or disambiguation on the page; no index record uses the id, label or an alias (the existing 'chiaro' record is a different world).
book-joinhigh
PRIMARY for The Reverie: Warhammer Community, 'The Reverie: The Author Speaks' (16 Sep 2020): 'The novel is set on Malpertuis, the home world of the Angels Resplendent Chapter'; Lexicanum Angels_Penitent (the Reverie forest on Malpertuis and the fortress-monastery Kanvolis, Chapter One).
segmentumhigh
null, stated rather than guessed: the Lexicanum infobox leaves Segmentum, Sector and Subsector blank and files Malpertuis and the Chiaroscuro System under 'Segmentum Unknown'. 'The eastern fringes of the Imperium' is a bearing, not a segmentum; Lexicanum Eastern_Fringe describes that region as bordering ('the neighboring Ultima Segmentum'), not inside, Ultima.
classlow
'temperate', editorial: no permitted page gives Malpertuis a world type or global terrain (its infobox class is the administrative 'Adeptus Astartes Homeworld'). The only terrain on record is local — the Reverie, a snow-choked forest in perpetual winter, which Lexicanum Angels_Penitent calls a Warp-wound (Chapter Fifteen), and the river Tristesse — and local snow does not make an ice world. Temperate is the dataset's neutral default for an inhabited world, as for Charys and Helwain.
gposlow
inferred: no position is published. The only geography is a bearing: Lexicanum Malpertuis and Chiaroscuro_System, both citing The Reverie, Chapter One, place it 'in the eastern fringes of the Imperium', 'remote and difficult to access'; Lexicanum Planets_(List) gives 'Eastern Fringe'. Placed on the unsurveyed rim band (r = 435.0) on its EASTERN arc at [928.4, 575.5], about 10 degrees south of due east; the exact angle is editorial, chosen to clear existing rim markers (nearest: chiaro 20 units, carinae 26 units), and carries no information beyond 'far east'. Not rim_xy('malpertuis') [806.7, 164.8], which falls on the north-eastern arc. No source calls it near any placed world. Z 9.1 is the zPolicy value (compute-z.mjs malpertuis 928.4 575.5).
erasmedium
m41 only, with the novel: Warhammer Community's 24 Oct 2020 pre-order post says 'The Reverie is set in the 41st Millennium'; Lexicanum Angels_Penitent puts the Chapter's fall to the Angels Penitent 'during M41'. No later state of the planet is given a date on a permitted page, so no indomitus entry is asserted.
systemIdhigh
'chiaroscuro', for the Chiaroscuro System (Lexicanum Malpertuis infobox; Chiaroscuro_System, citing The Reverie, Chapter One).
no-system-surveyhigh
No systems/chiaroscuro.json: Lexicanum Chiaroscuro_System (read 2026-10-12) names Malpertuis as its only known planet and publishes no star, sibling body or body count. The map synthesises Malpertuis's globe from this record.
