Adeptus Mechanicus research forge world under Ork invasion
An Adeptus Mechanicus forge world given over to research and development, above all the study and integration of STCs, ruled from its capital and primary forge Node Primus by a High Council of four senior Magi under the Prime Hermeticon Ronrul Illutar, who once drew three ancient STC databases out of the Veiled Region and used one to tame the world's volcanic nature, turning the magma core's power into energy for its forges. Its tech-priests and Skitarii wear red robes trimmed with midnight blue, and from orbit the planet looks made of metal. In Mike Brooks's Brutal Kunnin, Kaptin Badrukk's Freebooterz are already besieging it when Da Meklord's Tekwaaagh! arrives, and the two Ork hosts agree to share the loot. How the war ends is kept off the record.
Position
Map frame: 272.9, 116 in the archive's 0–1000 disk space (core at 500, 500).
Distance from the core: 446 units ≈ 47.5k light years, north-west of the galactic core.
Height above the disk plane: 6.8 units — invented thin-disk jitter, deterministic per record. No published source gives any location a z coordinate.
System: Hephaesto System

wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Hephaesto (read directly in a browser on 2026-10-05): 'an Imperial Forge World', capital Node Primus, High Council of four senior Magos under Ronrul Illutar, Prime Hermeticon; 'this forge world's focus was research and development, mostly in the form of STC research and integration'; invaded by the Freebooter Badrukk and then the Tekwaaagh! of Da Meklord, who agreed to share it (Brutal Kunnin, Chapter One 'A Temp'ry Alliance'); red robes with midnight blue trim (Chapter Two). https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ronrul_Illutar: the Veiled Region expedition and the STC 'used to regulate his Forge World's volcanic nature and convert the limitless power of the magma core into efficient energy for Hephaesto's Forges' (+++002+++). Warhammer Community, 12 Sep 2020 'Da Boyz in a Book!' (archived): 'the Imperial forge world of Hephaesto'. NAME-COLLISION CHECK: Lexicanum has one Hephaesto article (the Legio Hephaesto Titans are the world's own Legion, not another place); no index record uses the id or label.
segmentumhigh
null: Lexicanum's infobox leaves Segmentum, Sector, Subsector and System blank and files the page under 'Segmentum Unknown'. Ronrul_Illutar mentions 'the Sector' where Knight Houses Nansus and Coneale reside without naming it, and no permitted page gives a neighbour or bearing.
gposlow
inferred: the world is NAMED but canon never locates it, so the record claims no segmentum and sits on the unsurveyed rim at the generator's rim_xy('hephaesto') = [272.9, 116.0] (the function in warhammer-3d-map/app/tools/build_locations.py evaluated on its own, which reproduces uzurmandius [62.2, 482.3] and pallevon [308.5, 908.7]; the script itself was not run). The position carries no information and must not be read as a bearing. Z 6.8 is the zPolicy value (compute-z.mjs hephaesto 272.9 116.0). UPGRADE CANDIDATE.
classmedium
'forge' (the soot-crust-and-magma-vein palette), painted from what the pages say the world LOOKS like, not from the infobox's 'War World, Forge World' tag: from orbit 'Dat planet is made of metal' (Brutal Kunnin Chapter One, published in full by Warhammer Community, 1 Nov 2023), and a volcanic world whose magma core powers its forges (Lexicanum Ronrul_Illutar). No permitted page describes oceans, ice or green land.
erashigh
indomitus only: Lexicanum Battle_for_Hephaesto dates the battle M42. Allegiance 'contested': an Imperial forge world under siege by two Ork hosts for the whole of the novel. Its fate is a spoiler and lives in the book's SPOILERS entry, not here.
systemIdmedium
editorial: 'hephaesto', the world's own name; Lexicanum's System field is blank.
no-system-surveyhigh
No systems/hephaesto.json although Hephaesto is Brutal Kunnin's PRIMARY setting: canon names no star, moon, sibling world or body count (Lexicanum Hephaesto, Battle_for_Hephaesto, Ronrul_Illutar), so ADDING-A-BOOK Step 5b's 'when NOT to author a survey' applies (the vondrak and khorsari-reach precedents). The map synthesises the system from this record.
